Who, What and Why...
These three things are usually the first
questions when considering the services of
a company or an individual, so let me take
a moment to to introduce myself, my company
and what I do.
Who... My name is William Mertz and
my company is Blue Morpho EcoTours.
I am an American living in Mexico for many
years. I have devoted my time to learning
all I can about this fascinating culture,
people, history and natural history. I
specialize in small, private guided tours
of the region including Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa,
Barra de Potosi,Troncones and beyond.
Through my time living here and exploring
I can offer what I feel is the best. Those
things and places that most represent
this region, it’s people and natural beauty.
What...What we do is focus on what is known
as eco tourism. Eco tourism is defined
as "Responsible travel to natural areas that
conserves the environment and improves
the well-being of local people." (TIES, 1990).
Mexico is rich beyond words. Ranking in the
top five countries in the world in over all
biodiversity including untold numbers of
plants and animals found no where else,
it is a naturalists paradise. Home to
some of the greatest ancient cultures ever
seen, it is over flowing with history.
Home to a people(s) that hold tight to their
traditions and heritage, it is alive with
culture. Learn the history. Know the
people. Experience the beauty of the place
where I choose to make my home.
